So tonight, as you say goodbye to the legen...wait for it...dary Ted Mosbey, let me introduce you to a different Ted that might help you fill this void.
TED is a global set of conferences founded to share "ideas worth spreading". That's it. It's really as simple as that. Anyone can independently organize a TEDx event for your city, community, or workplace. It's about whatever you want it to be about because we all have ideas, some crazier than others, and this is a forum for them to be shared.
Take a minute to watch my current favorite idea from Matt Cutts. Inspired by that guy who got fat on McDonalds, he decided to put the 30-day challenge to good use and it has helped him add new things to his life. He found that the months stopped flying by forgotten and became far more meaningful and memorable. His self confidence skyrocketed and he can now say he's "a novelist".
Every day, for 30 days you could...
- give someone a high-five for no reason
- not eat sugary treats
- walk/run 1-mile
- take a new photograph
- apply for 1 new job
- drink a new beer
- tell someone you love them
- build something with your hands
- donate an article of clothing
It can be anything, but the key is sticking to it. You have 86,400 seconds every day. Use them!
